 (Fixed term contract for a period from  01 April 2026 to end of 31 December 2026)

Job Purpose: The main responsibility of the Metro Electoral Project Officer is to assist and support the provincial / metro office teams in their day to day activities in respect of the Electoral Processes Registration and Voting for the Local Government Elections (LGE) 2026.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Matric/N3 three year tertiary qualification
  2. Proven work experience 
  3. Knowledge of the Electoral Commission and its registration and voting processes are required; 
  4. Excellent computer literacy skills

Other requirements:

  • Communication and report-writing skills;
  • Multitasking skills;
  • Basic understanding of the core business of the Electoral Commission;
  • Ability to work under pressure and challenging situations;
  • Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accurate data collection, analysis and reporting;
  • Valid driver’s licence; and
  • Access to a cellular phone that can be used for work purposes.

Main responsibilities:

  1. Assist with Voters’ Roll clean up, Quality Assurance for registration weekend.  
  2. Assisting with ROC functionality and Voter Registrations ops centre facilitation.
  3. Assist in the general administration of the Electoral Matters team during the high activity period of NPE; this may include the processing of registration forms, capturing address details, assisting in interim by – election activities and other activities as required.

The Metro Electoral Project Officer will perform his/her duties subjected to the directions, control and discipline of the Regional Assistant Manager:

  1. In a professional, dignified, competent, independent, impartial and unbiased manner free from fear, favour or prejudice;
  2. With due diligence and care and with the utmost good faith;
  3. In accordance with the terms and conditions contained in the contract.

Other Requirements

No person shall be appointed who –

  1. is under the age of 18 years;
  2. is not a registered voter;
  3. is not a South African citizen;
  4. has a criminal record – unless a deviation is granted by the Chief Electoral Officer or a delegated official;
  5. is or has been a candidate in an election for the National Assembly, a provincial legislature or a municipal council in the last five years;
  6. has been an office bearer of a political party in the last 5 years;
  7. has been an office bearer of any other organisation or entity that has party political aims during the last 5 years;
  8. is related to an employee of the Electoral Commission in that specific municipality – unless a deviation is granted by the relevant Provincial Electoral Officer or a delegated official.

The above position is a fixed term contract positionrequiring a person to work over a weekend.
