DRIVER
NATIONAL OFFICE – CENTURION
(Inclusive remuneration package of R280,524.00 per annum)
The Driver will provide secure and timely driving services to transport merchandise, employees, documents, and run work-related errands. The Driver will report to Assistant Manager: Fleet Management.
Key performance areas:
Load and unload the Electoral Commission’s merchandise; Precisely finish all paper work connected with conveyance of merchandise; Transport products, materials, and employees securely to areas where they are needed; Guarantee that products and employees are protected and secured; Answer clients’ inquiries as brilliantly as could be allowed; Ensure timely conveyance of employees and materials to and from places as instructed by supervisor or manager; Ensure that vehicles are in good condition and clean always by washing both the inside and outside parts of the vehicle; Carry out routine checks on vehicle and ensure they are sound; Recognise electrical and mechanical faults and report to the supervisor, or designated workshop/technician/mechanic; Report any instance or mishap or accident to the dispatcher or supervisor; Perform periodic maintenance on vehicles, such as changing batteries and motor oil at appropriate time, as well as refueling; Report any case of accident, injury or damage of vehicles to the supervisor or manager; Keep all records, including receipts of vehicle maintenance; Keep up a travel log to record areas travelled to, travel time, and work hours; Perform some other undertakings like shopping, dropping and picking supplies, getting meals, and running errands; Pay tolls and other fundamental vehicle demands such as registration and licensing; Drive safely and comply with laws and rules of driving to maintain a safe and healthy work environment; Communicate with prospective recipients of merchandise by phone to update them of time of deliveries if there have been issues or changes to their estimated time of arrival; Follow pre-planned route accurately without deviation from set course; Maintain communication with management to be informed of any change of delivery, route or schedule; Inform management of any obstructions to making safe, efficient deliveries on time.
Basic Requirements: The successful candidate must be in possession of a Matric (Grade 12) or junior certificate (Grade 10) plus 3 years relevant working experience; proven / evident successful experience in the field of work; a valid driver’s license is compulsory, and willingness to travel extensively. Have basic knowledge of operational protocols and field of work; Good office administration skills; Good sense of direction; Knowledge and awareness of the Gauteng province; Ability to read maps and knowledge and understanding of a GPS tracker; Good verbal and written communication skills; Good organizing skills and computer literacy.
