Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for appointment to the following election related temporary positions in the administration of the Electoral Commission, a state institution established by Chapter 9 of the Constitution.

(All Inclusive remuneration package of R380.00 per day)

(Temporary position: from date of commencement and for a period not exceeding 60 days from June 2026 to 31 December 2026, but not beyond 31 January 2027 comprising of two contracts/ phases – Contract 1 for the two registration weekends and Contract 2 for voting)

Job Purpose: The main responsibility of the Picker(s)/ Packer(s) is to assist the local office with the supervised material and stock handling and will perform his/her duties subject to the directions control and discipline of the Provincial Electoral Officer or his/her delegate. 

Duties

  • Stock management including stock updates.
  • Picking, packing and loading trucks.
  • Receiving goods
  • Cleaning and keeping the warehouse floor neat and tidy.
  • Filing picking lists and delivery notes of materials received and materials dispatched
  • Any other election related responsibilities

Minimum Requirements: Must be a SA citizen and registered voter; must have some material handling work experience or previous Warehouse Supervisor and Picker(s)/ Packer(s) experience.

Other requirements:

  1. Must reside or be familiar with the municipality and ward and/or municipality for which he/she is applying
  2. Must have knowledge of the municipality, its civil society structures and leadership very well. 
  3. Must not hold any political position or be involved in any political parties’ campaigns
  4. Must have a valid bank account and tax reference number.
  5.      Must be proficient in the relevant local language of the municipality and ward and/or municipality for which he/she is applying
  6. Must have own mode of transport.
  7. Must be able to count.
