The Key Purpose of this Role is to implement and uphold ABInBev safety standards. Manage the Silo Block, barely intake and malt distribution, along with cost control across the handling processes. Responsible for Inventory and Warehousing functions to optimize service and benchmarking productivity standards are met. Implement standard operating processes in line with DPO standards. Manage VLC, ZBB and FLC budgets in line with annual flexed targets. Implement and manage improvement plans, CAPEX projects and process optimization. Deliver the KPI’s through VPO.
Key roles and responsibilities:
Safety & Environment:
- Ensures a safe and healthy working environment for internal and external stakeholders
- Ensures that legislative requirements are met in line with the Section 16.2 appointee requirements
- Maintain a robust system of SIO/SIF/R&NC/Incident generation and close out with appropriate problem solving
- Attend and ensure attendance of all personal at Daily Safety Meeting and Safety Reps at Monthly ES meetings
- Participate in all safety reviews and risk reviews of internal and external processes, Identify and mitigate risks with plans and implementing them
Quality:
- Ensures that logistics teams adhere to Quality guidelines specified by the Zone so that customers receive stock as per ABInbev Quality guidelines
- Adheres to Zone blocking mechanisms to ensure that blocked stock is at no time a risk to our stakeholders
- Manages DOC & stock age for raw material inputs and finished goods inventories in order to proactively identify opportunities or alleviate write off risks risks with functional peers in Planning, Manufacturing and Commercial
People:
- Maintains a healthy IR climate by conducting documented monthly engagements with direct reports
- Participate in monthly union engagement routines.
- Ensure that the Frontline are aligned in terms of goals and meeting routines to drive continuous improvement
- Ensures that Monthly One on Ones are conducted in line with the target review process.
- Maintains a healthy IR climate with Partners ( Temp Labour, Outsourced Services and other internal departments) through documented SLA Meetings
- Participate in plant monthly engagement routines
- Drive engagement index improvement through coaching
VPO:
- Ensures that Daily, Weekly and Monthly Meeting routines are adhered to in line with mandatory VPO guidelines (OWD’s, SCL, MCL, OWS, Dynamic PI’s, SIC, Mandatory meetings)
- Conducts the Daily Silo Block Meeting as per the specified TOR’s listed in the VPO framework
- Ensures that Processes are standardised via SOP’s and work standards are monitored and improved upon using Operational Work Diagnoses (OWD’s)
- Tracks KPI’s/PI’s on a daily, weekly and monthly basis in line with VPO Terms of Reference.
- Ensures that appropriate problem solving tools are applied for out of range KPI’s PI’s as per triggers in line with VPO methodology
- 5S routines and improvement exercises are conducted on a weekly and monthly basis to uphold Maltings 5S standards
- SWOT participation and completion yearly and reviews quarterly
- Annual Business Descriptions are developed per functional area, taking into account SWOT Analysis and key business imperatives.
- Lead ATO projects in the silo block area
- Strive to create a physiological safe environment and develop autonomous teams.
- Continuous Improvement
- Fosters a culture of continuous improvement by ensuring that routines and process are aligned to best in class standards through effective benchmarkin Engages with HRBP and ensures that the Training Needs Analysis (TNA) document is maintained in line with operational requirements for staff development
- Ensures that TNA weekly and Monthly training schedules are adhered to.
- Drives a problem solving culture through the use of VPO Problem solving tools (e.g 5 Why, Abnormality Reports, OWD’s, GAPA, PDCA, ITF) from Front line to senior management
Governance:
- Ensures that internal compliance controls are adhered to in terms of Vendor payments, SOX and CSA controls.
- Ensures that management teams are trained on the Code of Business Conduct and strict adherence is in place. Effective use of the Compliance Channel is maintained
Service Level
- Maintains a healthy relationship with Agricultural Team, Co-Operatives, Depots, Transnet Freight Rail, Road Transporters, Truck Stop to ensure Maltings throughput is maintained.
- Maintains levels of raw materials to standards for bags, liners, Laminex, Gib Acid, Caustic and Deosan to ensure no downtime due to Logistics..
- Engages with Processing and Maintenance planning around raw material availability and sales plan to support Service Level.
- Ensures there is strict adherence to Inventory Policy.
- Manages Service Level Agreements (SLA) on a monthly basis with Processing, Quality, ES and Maintenance and External transporters
- Plan and schedule the Caledon Malt Production plan
- Manage all vehicle (Road and Rail) post dispatch from Co-operatives depots into the Caledon Maltings site. Improve turn around time to improve efficiencies
- Manage all outloading of malt to plan
- Deliver on Logistics KPI’s
- Budgets
- Sets yearly budgets
- Drives a strict adherence to flexed budgets with the Silo Block management teams.
- Ensures that accountability is aligned to package owners
- Assumes overall accountability for Maltings Silo block Spend.
- Manages internal movement losses/gains, silo losses/gains
- Accounts for over/underspends on a weekly and monthly basis dependent on the GL Frequency
Minimum Requirements
- A Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, Operations Management or related Science Degree
- Minimum 4 years’ experience at Management level in Operations of Grain Handling Towers (Silo Block)
- Detailed understanding of SAP, SPLAN, & MES
- Distribution/Warehousing and Finance
- Familiar with local market environments
