The Key Purpose of this role is to be responsible for managing the operations of the logistics function within Maltings, ensuring that raw materials and finished goods handling, storage and transportation function is executed in a safe, efficient and cost-effective manner whilst ensuring alignment with zone planning. Manage both the logistics Strategy and the VPO process. Through VPO practices, this role is to ensure that there is a superior performance relating to Governance against standards.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining workplace safety, housekeeping and risk-free standards and report any deviation.
  • Ensure compliance to the OHS Act requirements
  • Provide visibility about Barley and Malt logistics, and performance indicator (Service Level, Inventory Levels, costs, performance, people development)
  • Ensure autonomous operations and quality at source are executed in line with work instructions.
  • Monitor barley/malt analysis to ensure good quality product is produced/shipped
  • Improve Plant Hygiene, master cleaning schedule adherence, and pest control
  • Compliance to GFSI standard
  • Manage storage of non-conformance material to prevent block stock failure
  • Develop employees and management of SKAP
  • Ensures that Monthly One on Ones are conducted in line with the target review process
  • Supports employees with their PDP’s
  • Provides timely and constructive feedback while effectively coaching for performance
  • Coach OWS and holds accountable
  • Manage time and attendance, overall absenteeism and effective leave planning
  • Monitor Logistics processes to ensure production performance targets are met
  • Develop ,Review and update of SOP for Dry site processes
  • VPO Implementation , Example: 5S implementation and sustainability, KPI&PI trees, OWS, routine compliance, ATO
  • Interpret the production plan and co-ordinate the shift teams to execute the relevant activities.
  • Improve processes and manage losses. example, Reduce process losses in Pre-cleaning and main cleaning, elimination of spillages and product leaks
  • Manage barley intake process and malt loading process and execute as per plan
  • Apply problem solving and decision-making techniques and principles
  • Facilitate team problem solving
  • To effectively lead the operational shift teams to optimize shiftily performance
  • Manage housekeeping through daily inspections and weekly audits
  • Identify and quickly removing barriers to the plan, recording and responding to delays and breakdowns in accordance with VPO principles
  • Co-ordinate and perform scheduled maintenance adherence
  • Check completion of works orders, breakdowns notifications on SAP and Preventive Maintenance Schedules
  • Ensure plant availability for the execution of scheduled maintenance plans
  • Assist maintenance team members to identify root cause of breakdowns

Minimum Requirements:

  • 3-year tertiary diploma / degree, preferably in Supply Chain, Logistic or Engineering
  • At least 2 years’ experience in logistics/supply/ procurement chain in an FMCG environment/agriculture industry
