R370 PER DAY FOR 3 DAYS (Inclusive remuneration package ranging from R370 to R1,100 subject to statutory deductions and days engaged/trained)

Job Purpose: To contribute towards strengthening electoral democracy processes by assisting in coordinating the registration of voters and related programs of the Electoral Commission at the voting district level.

 

Minimum Requirements:

1.       Must be a SA citizen.

2.       Must be a registered voter

3.       In the last five years must not have held political office or been a candidate in an election or have been politically active for a political party or campaigning for a political party [appearing on the candidate list of any political party for the local governments will result in immediate termination of appointment]

4.      In the last five years must not have been elected to office in an organisation that has party political affiliations or aims

5.      Must not have been convicted of a serious criminal offense (s)

6.       Must have basic technical knowledge and experience (e.g. working a smartphone or similar device)

7.        Must be proficient in the relevant local languages of the municipality

8.        Must have a valid bank account and SARS Tax Number and email address

Competencies required:

1.          Must demonstrate a proven ability to work well under pressure and meet tight and demanding deadlines

2.          Must be willing to undergo training

3.          Must demonstrate professionalism and impartiality at all times

Some of the responsibilities of the job (subject to the position appointed to):

·Door-to-door targeting all voters in the identified VD within the ward.  
·Community mobilization on awareness of upcoming ward 110 By-Election.
·To educate the community on who is eligible to vote and the importance of participation in the ward by-election.
·Communication with voters through the dropping of a pamphlet explaining where their voting station is and the opening and closing of voting stations.
·To educate the community on how they can mark their ballot papers.
·To educate the community on valid and invalid ballot papers.
·Communication with voters on the opening and closing times for special voting day.
·Assist in the administration and the return of attendance registers and any other documentation used during the Voter balloting education process.
·Ensure that evidence for all interventions (such as event attendance registers are completed as required), accurately completed and submitted to MEO office
·Compile reports pertaining to her or his duties as prescribed on the fieldwork done.

The above position is a temporary contract position, requiring a person to work for THREE (03) days. You are also required to attend at least one day’s training prior to the Balloting and Voter Education event.  The Electoral Commission will only correspond with successful candidates and is under no obligation to fill the positions after advertising it.  Although advertised, it may be withdrawn or re-advertised.  Applicants should under no circumstances have a high party political profile.  Applications must in all cases be accompanied by recent, updated comprehensive curriculum vitae indicating your ward and VD applying for as well as certified copies of qualifications, recent bank statement, SARS tax number and identity document.
