If you are looking to kick-start your Logistics career in a pre-eminent elections management body, this might be your role. We are currently looking for an intern to join the logistics team at the Electoral Commission’s National Office.

The Intern: Logistics, will be trained, exposed to and lend support in delivering impactful logistics services to the Electoral Commission’s clients, customer and stakeholders’ base to strengthen the overall organisational control environment. The Intern will report to the Senior Admin Officer: Logistics Distribution.

Key performance areas: A 24-month internship programme designed to provide qualified graduates with a unique opportunity to gain valuable skills in a supportive environment while learning on the job and acquiring much needed work experience.

Exposure and training will be provided in the following areas where assistance is required:

  •     Assist each departmental staff member with his/her duties whilst undertaking daily activities to learn about the basics of the departmental portfolio, i.e.Inbound logistics / procurement, Outbound logistics / distribution and Warehousing / Materials management.
  • Assist with warehousing and inventory management. Supplier management, i.e. monitor delivery schedules and track delivery of goods.
  •   Assist with logistical activities and duties relating to by-election.
  •  Assist with relevant duties and activities as indicated by the departmental staff.
  • Assist with selected logistical duties so as to obtain exposure to electoral operations and financial administrative matters.

Assist with the following general administrative duties

  • Minute taking, report writing, preparing presentations, routine enquiries.
  • Maintaining the filing system for the function.
  • Coordinate the general administrative function of the logistics department.
  • Maintaining incoming and outgoing correspondence in the function.

Basic requirements: 

Applicants must have completed and be in possession of Matric/ Grade 12/ N3/ NTC Level 4 AND at least a bachelor’s degree, or a National diploma, from an accredited tertiary institution in one of these fields: Supply Chain Management/ Logistics or Procurement.

The candidate must possess the following skills:

  • Ability to communicate effectively, in writing and verbally.
  • Computer literate, familiar with the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Willingness to learn to work with new software and applications.

The ideal candidate must have the following attributes

  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team under supervision.
  • Good time management.
  • Confident in engaging with other role-players.
  • Proactive.
  •    Dedication to the tasks at hand and willingness to work long hours, including weekends, when   needed.
  • Service driven.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
