Twenty-Four Months (24) contract at R10 441.14 per month

If you are looking to kick-start your Public Education, Communications and Stakeholder Relations, including Research & Knowledge Management career in a pre-eminent elections management body, this might be your role. We are currently looking for an intern to join our Outreach team in Limpopo Provincial Office. 

The Intern: Outreach and Communications will contribute towards the development and implementation of Youth Democracy Programmes, Stakeholder Management and Liaison, Public Education and Research and Knowledge Management in the province  The Intern reports to the Assistant Manager: Outreach. 

Key performance areas: A 24-month internship programme designed to provide qualified graduates with a unique opportunity to gain valuable skills in a supportive environment while learning on the job and acquiring much-needed work experience.

Exposure and training will be provided in the following areas where assistance is required:

  • Coordination of stakeholder workshops and events
  • Branding of venues for all events
  • Co-coordination of communication plans, both internal and external.
  • Promotion of democracy education and understanding, as well as advocating and enhancing the brand of the Electoral Commission.
  • Promotion of internal publication tools and monitoring progress in the communications area
  • Keep and maintain filling system for the section.
  • Submission of invoices to finance for payments
  • Taking pictures during events
  • Coordinate meetings; take minutes and keep attendance registers
  • Drafting of proposals
  • Any other duties delegated from time to time
  • General administrative support
  • Results Operation Centre support

Assist with the following general administrative duties

  • Minute taking, report writing, routine enquiries.
  • Maintaining the filing system of Outreach.
  • Compilation and distribution of documents to stakeholders, including such tasks as required by the supervisor
  • Maintaining incoming and outgoing correspondence of Outreach.

Basic requirements: Applicants must have completed and be in possession of Matric/ Grade 12/ N3/ NTC Level 4 AND at least a bachelor’s degree, or a National diploma, from an accredited tertiary institution in one of these fields: Communications/ Public Relations/ Media Studies (a post graduate qualification will be an added advantage)

  • Have the ability to communicate effectively, in writing and verbally.
  • Be computer literate and familiar with the Microsoft Office suite, i.e., Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.
  • Have the willingness to learn to work with new software and applications.
  • Have the willingness to travel.

Other requirements:

  • Must have knowledge of the province in which the application is made.
  • Must not hold any political position or be involved in any political parties’ campaigns.

  • Good communication skills (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.

NB! Applicants must be 35 years of age or below and must not have been an intern  or worked in their field of study before to qualify for this programme. Applicants will be subjected to a risk assessment.
