SENIOR OUTREACH OFFICER (Re-advertisement)

North West Provincial Office

(An inclusive remuneration package of R 668 964.00 per annum)

The Senior Outreach Officer will implement management decisions, to achieve objectives regarding outreach in the province. The Senior Outreach Officer reports to Assistant Manager: Outreach and Training.

Duties The successful candidate will be responsible for the following: Drive provincial civic and democracy education by implementing, evaluating and maintaining electoral democracy education programmes; identify relevant methods and aspects to be used in civic and voter education programmes; establish multi-entity stakeholder relationships to drive civic and voter education; identify and manage strategic stakeholder issues and audiences by ensuring ongoing engagement, continuous support, communication, participation and accountability for a successful outcome of provincial civic education programmes and elections; engagement of service providers such as civil society organisations, democracy education facilitators, etc.; coordinate and facilitate mass civic and voter education initiatives; maintain a database of all relevant stakeholders; manage responsibilities of all stakeholders, political parties and candidates, and the electorate;  oversee communications to the media, including content initiatives and cultivate and manage relationships with media representatives; develop and implement a provincial implementation guide for the Crisis Management Strategy; create and maintain a social calendar to promote events of the provincial electoral office; ensure compliance with procurement processes; obtain quotations from service providers and follow up on the submission of invoices and payment for services rendered.

Basic requirements:  The successful candidate must be in possession of Matric/N3, an appropriate tertiary qualification (Communication and/or Media related qualification),with a minimum of 4 years’ relevant working experience. Experience in outreach or civic education/community development field is advantageous; knowledge of electoral legislation and processes;  stakeholder liaison experience is essential; Good computer literacy; Project management knowledge and experience; good verbal, written communication and report writing skills; Presentation and facilitation skills are essential; ability to work under pressure, team player; interpersonal skills and a high level of ethical conduct; willingness to travel extensively within the province and a valid driver’s license(Code EB) is compulsory; knowledge of the demographics, geography and political dynamics of the province; the ability to communicate in the official languages spoken in the province;

Experience in adult basic education is essential; OETDP accredited applicants will be given preference,

 

Applicants must be a South African citizen, who has not had a prominent political profile in the last 5 years.
