The Theatre Stock / Equipment Controller is responsible for the efficient management, control, and maintenance of all theatre stock and medical equipment within Netcare Hospitals, ensuring optimal availability and functionality to support surgical procedures.

Job Responsibilities: 
* Manage and maintain accurate inventory records for all theatre stock, including consumables, implants, and instrumentation, utilizing the hospital’s inventory management system.
* Conduct regular stock takes and reconcile discrepancies, investigating root causes and implementing corrective actions.
* Order, receive, and inspect incoming stock, ensuring compliance with specifications and quality standards.
* Rotate stock to minimize wastage and ensure first-in, first-out (FIFO) principles are applied.
* Monitor stock levels and identify reorder points, liaising with suppliers and procurement to ensure timely replenishment.
* Oversee the sterilization and reprocessing of surgical instruments and equipment, adhering to strict infection control protocols.
* Perform routine checks, cleaning, and basic maintenance of theatre equipment, identifying and reporting faults for repair.
* Coordinate with biomedical engineering for scheduled equipment maintenance and urgent repairs.
* Ensure all theatre equipment is safely stored, easily accessible, and in good working order before each surgical list.
* Assist theatre staff with locating and preparing necessary stock and equipment for surgical cases.
* Maintain a clean, organized, and safe theatre stockroom and equipment storage area.
* Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to stock and equipment management.
* Adhere to all Netcare Hospitals policies, procedures, and relevant health and safety regulations.

Job Qualifications:
* Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent qualification.
* A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in a similar stock control, stores, or equipment management role, preferably within a healthcare or theatre environment.
* Proficiency in using inventory management software and hospital information systems.
* Strong understanding of medical terminology, theatre supplies, and surgical instrumentation.
* Knowledge of infection control principles and sterilization processes.
* Basic understanding of equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
* Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills.
* Physical ability to lift and move equipment and stock as required.
